Foot Soldiers For Their Cause

I couldn't help but notice the announcement about the National Education Association, the largest union, private or public, in the United States asking its members to support the re-election of President Barack Obama.  Though this is not a surprise, one ought to be aware of what is going on with unions in this country and why their involvement in elections has become such an important topic of analysis and discussion.  And when one examines the accompanying headline about the Service Employees International Union members coming out of the communist closet, one could easily, with some confidence, draw the conclusion that the president and all his men and women are adherents to an ideology that is adverse to the freedom and liberty most Americans enjoy.

The impact of union support for a socialist bent on remaking America in an effort that is anathema for most citizens.  The fact that Obama and the democrats will have 15 million activists to do mailings, staff phone banks, register voters and get as many supporters to the polls as possible is problematic for the rest of us.  This is a veritable army poised to do whatever is necessary to get their man re-elected.  If they fail, their cause could be set back for a whole generation.  They see the stakes as being that high, so they will following through.  Remember, "by any means necessary" is their mode of operation.

Socialism is alive and well and found most often in public sector unions.  Because the union movement has been less than successful in the private sector, organized labor leaders have concentrated their efforts in the public sector, seeking to essentially transform American governance and government by essentially dictating the outcomes of local elections.  In so doing, the unions get top cover from elected officials to manipulate the curricula of our schools, the interface with citizens at all levels and the pernicious taxes citizens must pay to support inefficient and ineffective government.

To beat these focused, aggressive and truculent activists, liberty loving individuals of every stripe will have to do their parts.  They will have to take it upon themselves to do that "one more thing" that must be done.  They will have to make sure they have done everything they could have done to beat back the corrosive force we call socialism.  With the union leadership out in front, we know who the enemies of liberty are.  Our President, typically leading from behind, will climb on the backs of organized labor to continue to wreck this nation and run roughshod over the Constitution.  They must be stopped, and we know what we have to do.
